Effects of Advanced Amines on Magnetite Deposition of Steam Generator Tubes in Secondary System

Ethanolamine (ETA) is widely used to control the pH value in secondary water of pressurized reactors. However, it necessary consider other advanced amines which can replace ETA due its serious human hazards and environmental treatment problems. The purpose this study contemplate effects three (ETA, 3-methoxypropylamine (MPA), dimethylamine (DMA)) on magnetite deposition behavior a thermally treated (TT) Alloy 690 tubes by using steam generator (SG) tube fouling loop simulated water. All particles were identified as polyhedral or spherical shape. When ETA, MPA, DMA, average porosity deposits was about 34.7%, 33.0%, 24.6%, respectively. amount largest when added, decreased 41% adding MPA 55% DMA. mechanism discussed terms zeta potentials both 690TT surface solubility depending amines. To compare potential for replacing with amines, various factors such SG integrity, hazards, problems discussed.
